If a Tree Falls

If a Tree Falls

Column #405        June 2, 2023A tree fell in the forest. No noise!

The idea for this column came from Matt Towery—a pollster. He had analyzed a basic question that had been on my mind for some time now and put it into words a week ago. The issue is, how does the average American expect to bring sanity back to its government in 2024?1

I believe most Americans are not in favor of the woke ideology that has infiltrated our schools and universities, the Federal bureaucracy, many of the nation’s largest businesses, for sure the main stream media, the entertainment industry, and politicians. The weaponization of the legal system against centrists and conservatives is also terrifying for most citizens. And some citizens actually understand that perpetual deficit spending will not have a good outcome. But can these good folks, even if in the majority, change our country’s course?

To answer that Matt brought up the idea of asking if there is a sound from a tree that falls in the forest if no one is around to hear it? The point being is that there are a huge number of voters who do not analyze the news from all viewpoints. They merely go with the flow in an alternate universe to those of us who are more focused on the big picture. Pollsters easily recognize them because unless they are answering a structured question, they can only babble nonsensical nothings about current events.

That’s why Matt says “the not-so-subtle Democratic machine that goes far beyond politicians and now includes significant segments of corporations, media and ‘nonpartisan’ governmental entities” controls what these people hear and “know.” Therefore with only a massive red tidal wave at the polls can Republicans hope to have a chance at winning.

As further proof, Matt points to some huge trees that fell recently that produced virtually no sound.
●    There’s the IRS whistleblower’s allegations of potential wrongdoing concerning the Department of Justice’s handling of the Hunter Biden investigation.
●    The revelation that Secretary of State Antony Blinken allegedly requested a letter from members of the intelligence community to label the younger Biden’s laptop “a Russian Hoax.”
●    The House Oversight Committee presented financial records of members of President Biden’s family and their business associates receiving more than $10 million from foreign corporations linked to China and Romania using a labyrinth of corporations.

Matt says that “Republicans and conservatives have missed the boat in educating voters in a non-controversial and balanced manner, about the true facts and news of the day.” What the majority hears is that conservatives are radical MAGA extremists. They’re racist, fascists, dictators, who are a threat to democracy, etc.

In addition, voting in America has changed. Comically, yet with certain irony, Matt stated that “The failure of the GOP to flood nursing homes, bingo halls, and mortuaries (OK, that one is a joke, of a sort) in search of voters willing to cast early ballots remains, as of today, unaddressed, And it really is an ‘existential threat’ to the Republican leaders. They must come to understand that in our post-COVID era, the rules for who votes when and where, and under the aegis of ‘voter outreach,’ has changed forever. Democrats know how to spend buckets of money to advance what could best be termed ‘selective democracy.’ They know just how to bump against the line of what is allowed and what is not, should anyone with any authority and objectivity care. The GOP has only months remaining to create armies and methods to match those efforts.”

About the same time other observers are coming to the same conclusions. Here’s a comment from J.B. Shurk from Gatestone Institute: “If legacy news corporations fail to report that large majorities of the American public now view their journalistic product as straight-up propaganda, does that make it any less true?”2

Recently Newt Gingrich wrote an article for “The Epoch Times” where he concluded that “Today, there is only a corrupt media protecting a corrupt establishment. The challenge to the American people to get at the truth is far more difficult than it was when Richard Nixon was under attack. The establishment rot threatens our survival as a free people, and it is increasingly difficult to uproot. Where are the Woodwards and Bernsteins when we need them most?”3

As most hard-working Americans know, their disciplined way of life based on free market principles is not an easy sell. Fighting against the free money, equal outcomes, cradle-to-grave existences, and anything goes (as long as it conforms to woke ideologies where sensitive downtrodden people are not offended) is not an easy sell. For example some people like the idea that if their credit is bad, those who have established good credit should subsidize home buyers with bad credit. Some students believe their loans should be forgiven. The list of freebies is endless and who doesn’t like free money?

Conservatives and moderates alike will have to do a much better job of informing the nation’s voters regarding the costs associated with deviant behavior. In many cases, they’ll have to teach them exactly what is deviant behavior. Pathetically too many Americans have lost sight of what it takes to be a responsible citizen and their position is reinforced daily by the complicit media, twisted educators, corrupt politicians, and cancel culture.

To your health.
